Espargaró, 34, kwam vanaf de twaalfde plaats aan de start van de Grand Prix van Groot-Brittannië en pakte zijn eerste overwinning van het seizoen dankzij een briljante inhaalmanoeuvre een paar bochten voor de finish. De Spaanse coureur, die bij Aprilia racete, boekte zo zijn tweede overwinning in het wereldkampioenschap in een carrière die bijna twintig jaar omspant. De derde plaats ging naar de Zuid-Afrikaan Brad Binder.
